The term “NRP” often refers to a “Non-Removable Pin” hinge. A hinge is a mechanical bearing that connects two solid objects, typically allowing only a limited angle of rotation between them. In the context of doors or cabinets, hinges are crucial for allowing controlled movement.
A “Non-Removable Pin” hinge has a pin (the central rod around which the hinge rotates) that is designed to be non-removable. This means that once the hinge is installed, the pin cannot be easily taken out. This design feature adds an extra layer of security to the hinge, as it prevents someone from easily removing the door by taking out the hinge pin. This is particularly useful for doors that need to be more secure or resistant to tampering.
Non-Removable Pin hinges are commonly used in security doors, exterior doors, and other applications where the prevention of easy removal of the hinge pin is desirable. They come in various styles and materials to suit different types of doors and aesthetic preferences.
A non-removable pin hinge is exactly what it sounds like – it’s an additional feature found on hinges that prohibits the pin from being removed from the barrel. The pin can’t be removed, even when the door is shut.
How to remove non removable pin hinges?
Unscrew the setscrew to remove the hinge pin. Some door hinges have a setscrew the sets into a circumferential groove cut into the pin. The setscrew is hidden with the door is closed; once opened, the screw is revealed. Remove this setscrew, then you should be able to remove the pin.
