Locksmith’s Best Friend: Failing Smart Locks
Locksmith’s Best Friend: The Failing Smart Key Locks
I love these locks—they fail like crazy! In fact, they’re a locksmith’s best friend because they break down so often. At this point, I’ve lost track of how many generations we’re on—maybe Gen 4, 5, or even 6?
Back in the first generation, we could easily bypass them using a flathead screwdriver or even a blank key. Just insert it, apply a little force, and the lock would turn over. Those early models were full of plastic parts, making them ridiculously easy to defeat.
To counter this, they reinforced later versions with hardened steel, making screwdriver attacks more difficult. But no matter how much they try to improve them, these locks continue to fail—and that keeps locksmiths busy!
